Just a guy with a guitar

"Nice Guys with Cool Guitars
Playing Awesome Songs with OK Voices"

About Tim Smith - Guitarist and Performer
Hello, my name is Tim Smith, and I’m a guitarist who has been playing for several years. Music has always been a passion of mine, and I truly enjoy every moment of it. A few years ago, I checked off a major "bucket list" item: I performed at my first Open Mic Night! Since then, I’ve played at many more, and each one has been an exciting experience.

To capture those moments, I try to record a video of every song I perform and have been posting them on social media for a few years now. It felt like the right time to expand and share my music in new ways.

What to Expect
In addition to my social media posts, I’ll be uploading both live and semi-live performances right here. This will include my "Nice Guys with Cool Guitars Singing Awesome Songs with OK Voices" series, as well as other projects.

A Note About Video Quality
Many of the videos may be in standard definition, which might not offer the best viewing experience online. But here's a solution: come see a live performance! There’s nothing like experiencing the music in person.

Make Music Day NWCT
Make Music NWCT is a free region-wide celebration of music open to the public. It is an official chapter of International Make Music Day, which began in France as the Fête de la Musique in 1982. The goal is to spread the joy of live music to our community and to highlight local musicians. It is open to performers of all ages, skill levels, and genres. Make Music Day always falls on the Summer Solstice, June 21st. It is celebrated in more than 750 cities around the world. My first participation was in June 2024. You can read more about it here

Pricing Guide
Performance Rates & Trial Offer - I have a standard rate per hour, with a 2-hour minimum. This includes one or two short breaks (about 10 minutes each). During my performance, I engage with your guests and do everything I can to create an enjoyable, memorable experience. I’ve got all my own gear suited for small to mid-sized spaces (like an outdoor seating area at a restaurant), but if you’ve already got equipment set up, I’m totally flexible and happy to use what’s there.

I understand that booking a musician can feel like a leap of faith — for both the musician and the establishment. You’re not always sure what you’re getting. That’s why I offer a "Getting to Know You" special - Book me for a 1.5-hour set at a discounted. If you're happy with the performance, we can plan future events at my standard rate.

Here are the Open Mic venues I have been at

Putnam House
Situated in Bethel, CT, Putnam House holds an Open Mic every Sunday starting at 7:00 PM. This is a fantastic venue for Open Mic events, especially when the weather is warm, as they often host the event outdoors!

Fast Eddie's Billiards Café
Fast Eddie's in New Milford, CT, is a great spot for trying out new material. Their Open Mic event runs every Friday at 9:00 PM. Many of the patrons are playing pool, so it's a laid-back environment where the focus isn’t solely on the performances.

Housatonic River Brewing (HRB)
Located in New Milford, CT, Housatonic River Brewing (or “Housy”) opened its doors in 2018. Sadly, HRB has discontinued its Open Mic Night events, which is particularly disappointing for me, as it was my bucket list venue for my first-ever Open Mic. Hopefully, the owners will reconsider and bring back this fun evening in the future.

Hootenanny at the Washington Depot Farmers Market
Launched in 2022, the "Hootenanny" at the Washington Depot Farmers Market was a brand-new initiative aimed at providing a fun space for musicians to gather and play. It’s an interactive experience where spectators are encouraged to join in—extra instruments are always available for impromptu jam sessions.

Woodbury Brewing Company
Located in Woodbury, CT, Woodbury Brewing Company is the second venue where I performed at an Open Mic. They host their Open Mic Nights on Tuesdays, offering a relaxed atmosphere for local talent.

Twelve Moons Coffee Shop
Located in Falls Village, CT, Twelve Moons hosts an Open Mic Night on the first Saturday of every month. What makes this spot unique is that the Open Mic serves as the “opening act” for the headline performer of the evening.

The Merryall Center
The Merryall Center in New Milford, CT, has recently reinstated its Open Mic Nights. The first event took place on July 17, 2023, and they host two to three Open Mic events each summer. It’s a wonderful venue for both performers and spectators alike.
